Snippet #2 2021

The front of the school was disappointingly normal. From all of the movies she’d watched (which was quite a few but not quite as many as she might’ve liked), there should have been an ornate iron gate that opened onto a huge courtyard around which would be wandering numerous reasonably attractive students sorted into their cliques which the newcomer (that was Karma) would need to find her fit. The school itself would be a grand affair, more mansion than school, with labyrinth hallways that would require a map, a guide, a compass, and a fair bit of luck to navigate until her second day in which all the location knowledge of where her classes were would be indelibly printed on her brain. That, however, was not what her Grandmother parked in front of. No, she had pulled up in front of what looked like a perfectly normal red brick fronted school, cement steps leading up, a few pimply tweens lounging indolently against the railing.
